NaNoWriMo update!

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 10:17 PM

Hey! I finally reached ten thousand words! Which compared to some people, it's not a lot. There are people who are already done.

But I'm not letting that get me down! I am a writer, and I shall finish this manuscript!

-plays heroic music and barrels onward through the plot-

Have I ever told you how much I love and hate plot bunnies?

UPDATE!

  • Nov. 4th, 2009 at 10:50 PM

I'm a little past the 10% mark of my novel, it's going fine, some parts are random, others are giving me serious WTH moments. But hey, it's all for the fun of it, right?

Current word count: 8,598 words out of 50,000,
17% completed,

41,402 words to go.

I hope I can get this done, I know I can get this done and I will get this done.

Wish me the best,

National Novel Writing Month

  • Oct. 27th, 2009 at 8:34 PM

I’m back everyone! And writing a novel for NaNoWriMo.

What is NaNoWriMo? NaNoWriMo is the shortened term for National Novel Writing Month, it’s in November. You write a first draft of a 50,000 word novel in one month. I'm currently starting from scratch since I have another novel I'm currently working on, but where's the fun in finishing it this month? Anyway . . . I seriously do like writing novels.

You see, if there’s anything that I love more than writing FanFictions, its writing novels. And NaNoWriMo is the perfect opportunity for me.

Some updates

  • Sep. 29th, 2009 at 8:02 PM

Sorry about the lack of updates, not much time in the school year, and I'm keeping this quick so . . . yeah.

One: On October 9-11, I will be testing my bravado and courage and shivering out another survival training weekend with Maryland Search and Rescue in Green Ridge State Forest. Two things I'm proud of, one, that I got to plan the thing, so yay for me! Two, I get to spend Saturday night in a debris shelter, isn't that going to be fun? (NO) But honestly, I'll enjoy being in the great outdoors since I'll learn how to make fire and I'm almost Call-Out Qualified! I hope to be qualified by December 4th so I can go on searches, I've already been to a mock search and that was awesome.

Also, I just switched up to AP Gov because the honors class frankly sucked. And the asian population has already congratulated me on "stepping up" and are probably quickening a plot to poison me (JK)

This summer I'm going to University of Maryland College Park for three weeks in July, so I get to have a taste of the dorm life and college cirriculum. And it's worth three college credits, so . . . yay for me!

Hmm . . . I think that's it, so uh, bye. =3

And now that I'm back . . . time to rant!

  • Aug. 29th, 2009 at 10:55 AM

What is up with these Sam/Jules fictions buzzing around lately, they aren't PWP . . . they're just non-canonical, which of course, DRIVES ME OFF THE WALL! Okay, so yeah, maybe "people can write what ever the hell they want" but honestly, the biggest thing in a fandom is the canon. The canon is the basis of the show/book/movie/game that you are writing about, it gives the character's in the show (let's put up show for example) a personality, a certain way they act and interact. Take that away, you take away the character, and that's just poor fan fiction.

Here I made this simple guide to help people with fiction!

Fan Fiction Writer's Code of Conduct

As a fan fiction writer I will:

- Be bound by the rules of canon (aka, making canon act like they do in the show)

- Not make an OC that I insert be like me in any way, shape or form.

- Get spell check on my computer, or at least ask someone to Beta me.*

- Not God-mod an OC, meaning that they will not have lasers shooting out of their eyes, make someone die just by staring at them or make them be able to destroy the world just by farting.

- Not make an OC make someone act out of character because that’s just Mary-Sue

- Make sure my OCs are not Mary-Sue by taking the litmus test.

- Not make any Author Notes longer than the actual story, or interrupt the flow of stories by inserting parenthetical comments (like this! Tee hee! ^_^).

- Not write fictions that make no sense.

- Use proper punctuation and quotations.

- Read over my chapters before posting.

- Separate ideas into paragraphs and not make the whole thing one block of text.

- Be kind and courteous to other fiction writers.

- Review stories I read and offer constructive criticism instead of copy and pasting flames.

- Abide by the guidelines at all times.

- Act mature to all flames received and not take them personally

- Include proper warnings and ratings in the summary and not write “I suck at summaries”.

I will abide by this Code of Conduct as a fan fiction writer to improve my writing, and help others.

*Beta Readers- people who you can send stories to and they’ll spell check/ grammar check it for you.

Oh ho! But I'm not done yet!!!!!!

Now, to apply this to Sam and Jules in the Flashpoint fandom!

First off, WILL PEOPLE STOP WRITING ROMANCES?! Flashpoint isn't some sappy romance! It's an action/drama show, and drama doesn't necessarily mean love! Drama - A serious narrative work or program for television, radio, or the cinema. Yes, Sam and Jules were together, Sam and Jules split up! END OF STORY.

Then some writers (which I will leave them anonymous, but they know who they are) write absolute CRAP yeah, just b/c there's no grammatical errors, or spelling problems, they might as well write an original romance, or label most of them under the crack!fic category.

Seriously, they make Jules into a helpless little kitten (couldn't find a better word, sorry) and then make her talk like trailer trash (well at least in some of the fics I read, she says "yall") or she over uses "Sweetheart".

I'm not calling anyone a bad author, because, if they get it in character, it'd be a really good fiction! But I guess since people can't get it in character, they are bad authors. I guess I'm fine with romances as long as Sam or Jules decides to transfer, or if it was way back when and Sam and Jules were married and Sam was in the military and Jules was a cop. That's fine, it sticks to the canon, and also, it sticks to one of the MAJOR SRU rules, "Do not date other team members".

And I wrote a fan fiction, "Why We Have the Rules" http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5339317/1/Why_We_Have_the_Rules

Here's a review for it:

"Yo dude, I dont wanna be mean, but i could bear with it until the final A/N. Flashpoint is a drama... as in DRAMA. Not an Action show. (It clearly states that in several references along with the press releases) Think about drama shows. ER- Drama, they date they die they kill others it was wonderful. House- They Date, they die, they kill others.. yet another wonderful show... CSI, they date, they die, they save others-cool show. Flashpoint, they date, they die (GAH I CANT BELIEVE IT :( ) and they save others... it will be a lovely show with the "hint" of romance in there. They dont focus on it enough to make it a soap opera.

But anyways, great writing as usual."

Let me dissect that a bit, she says that she could bear with it, well, why read it? (Not much of a problem with that, more like, "thanks for reading!". I may have said Flashpoint was an action show, but that's what it is, the heart of the show lies in the incident, not in Sam and Jules making out in the woman's locker room. It has drama, but do I srsly need to bring up the definition again? I'm not saying that Mark Ellis is making FP into a soap opera (HEAVENS NO) but fan fiction writers are, and I'm just sick of it.

The SRU has rules, Greg's not going to turn a blind eye and let Sam and Jules be together, no matter how much people fantasize. Ed has a better chance repairing Babycakes than that happening. So I'm guessing what I'm saying is, "Stop wasting good bandwidth with bad fics!"

I am back!

Update

  • Jul. 14th, 2009 at 1:41 PM

Well, since I'm actually writing my novel now, I might as well give updates on how I'm doing!

I'm at 30 pages, but its growing better. Currently, I'm writing the climax, but there are several parts I haven't added yet, so the book should be long, not insanely long like the HP books, but 100 or so pages.

Well, I'm actually gonna pack up for my ten day trip to Yellowstone. And tend to my hand, which looks like ground beef (I hurt it yesterday when I fell off the bike, stupid neighbors).

It's official!

  • Jul. 12th, 2009 at 10:04 PM

Well, I grew tired of writing fan fictions (but no worries, I'll start right back up soon) and so I decided to get a FictionPress account.

After the two day waiting period is done, I'll post something! http://www.fictionpress.com/u/678765/ that's my webbie!

And also! I am 21 pages into my novel! Yay!!!

A Year

  • Jul. 11th, 2009 at 6:16 PM

Today it has been a year anniversary for two important things in my life.

One was the Alaska trip. It was a two week cruise where I saw Alaska and Vancouver (but that was only for a day getting used to the changed time). It was a beautiful vacation where I made a lot of friends with several teens on the boat, and with the doctor, since I seem to disagree with any sort of up and down movement.

The next, was, you guessed it!

The Flashpoint series premiere! It's been a year since this awesome show premiered and I'm not tired of it!

Now I'm off to write a novel! Toodles! (man I love that word!

Something I realized

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 9:25 PM

Apocalyptica even if it's really orchestra geeks on drugs, is a pretty good band. And I noticed I get ideas for books listening too it.

o.O That's just freaky. Oh well! -moshes-

Bike Rides and Ideas

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 5:58 PM

So I took a nice bike ride today, and so I came up with some ideas for fan fictions, one was 10 Hazing rituals (One for each member of the team, including Rolie and Donna. Donna gets two, one from team one and one from team three). Another one was a Jules fiction!

Soo, stay tuned for fictions by mwa. lol.

Btw. Funeral by Band of Horses is a really good song.

September Trip

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 3:18 PM

There's a September backpacking trip going on in Maryland Search and Rescue, and I need to figure out where to go! It's a 2 day, 2 night trip.

Friday Night, Saturday Day/Night, Sunday Day (and we need to leave by 12). WHERE TO GO?!

A tribute to Flashpoint

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 11:55 PM

Sorry for the fuzziness, it's something I made on paint.

The title is "Armis Exposcere Pacem (They demanded peace by force of arms.)

And then I wrote:

"Though they enforce peace by arms, they use words to disarm, their human intuition and understanding of a subject's life and mind is their most powerful weapon. This power of words is better than a gun, it doesn't kill, it disarms them.

When negotiations fail though, they will use lethal force on the subject, no questions asked. They may have saved the hostage in the moment, but they will have lived with the mental and emotional consequences of being a public executioner.

This is a tribute to the brave souls who work to keep our streets clean and to the producers who brought this life into a whole new light.

Writer's Block: All-Nighter

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 10:16 PM

When was the last time you stayed up all night? What were you doing?

View 504 Answers

I did this on July 3rd, I was at Hunter's house watching anime.

First of all, Kiba is actually quite amusing, the old guy looks like a green version of Santa Clause, Zed is passing out too much and that can't be good for his health, and Robes, well, can we say "blond version of Michael Jackson"? Down to inviting Zed (who's a boy) to his big fancy house? (no dissing Michael tho)

Then, we watched all the Inuyasha movies, and I already had seen them, but there's something better in watching them with a bunch of friends. We laughed at Sango's slap having it's own wind, and Miroku still being a lecherous monk (now that is an oxy moron). Also Myoga running away and who can forget "OSAI!" Thwump! Inuyasha on the ground with a very pissed off Kagome above him.

Shippo's also really cute!

I need to do an anime-thon at my place some time, giant big screen TV deserves it! (and some new Episodes of Flashpoint!)

Do you think animals have a sense of humor?

Okay, yeah, so I'm late on this >< who cares, I have no life, and this was too good to pass up.

In the answer, yes, I do think that animals have a sense of humor.

My two dutch rabbits, Charlotte and Kiara have done a lot of things in the past that were cute, if not down right hilarious.

Once, we put a card board tube into his (yes Charlotte's a he) cage, and then a day after, mom passed by the cage, she saw Charlotte tearing the ** out of the thing, and he looked up at mom. He still had a little bit of card board in his mouth, and he dropped it immediately and gave mom the "I didn't do anything, I don't know how that giant pile of cardboard shavings got into my cage."

My girl rabbit, Kiara, well this was more cute than funny, but we put paper towels into her litter box below the litter so then we'd save time in cleaning the box. But she kept ripping out the towels, causing us a head ache and questioning why so sweet innocent Kiara would do such a thing. Then I got my answer. I watched Kiara rip out the towels and didn't say anything, just observed. She then took the ice bottle we put in her cage and rolled it ontop of the paper towel. After the condensation from the bottle soaked into the paper, she rolled the bottle off and layed on it, next to the ice. She had basically created a rabbit cooling system in five seconds. She's one smart bunny!

Black Skies and Happy Thoughts

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 9:47 PM

Wow, I really need to get a boyfriend o.o Or a life, either one works.

Intensive training for my 30 mile Yellowstone hike coming up, but here's some thing I was thinking about last night.

I was looking at the full moon rising over the trees, the black leaves were silhouetted against the bright white and gray circle in the dark sky. I felt an intense moment of poetic-ism as I looked up at the sky. I realized that in a few short weeks, I will be staring at that same sky, but in a different back drop. And instead of the full moon, I will be looking at millions upon millions of stars, twinkling and shining throughout the Western Skies. Luckily, the trip's landing on a new moon night.

I also felt with a pang of something close (but not quite) home sickness, that I was missing Alaska, the place I went last year. And the next topic in my next post. I realized then, that Alaska (even if it experiences almost 24 hours of sun light) will still be under the same sky I am now, and that eases my heart. I miss Alaska, it was the best two weeks of my life, the air was clear, the skies, though cloudy, were beautiful. And when the sun came out, the sky was clear and a deep blue I haven't seen before. I hope to go back to Alaska, and go back to Yellowstone and visit all the wild sections of the world. Adventures are something that can be remembered for a lifetime.

Just so we are all on the same page here

I think I posted an epiphany on here a few weeks ago, but I'm gonna just type up a short thing on Flashpoint Fan Fictions.

Hi, all of you who actually read my profile. I'm still alive! I'm currently experiencing writer's block on my novel and I have been reduced to writing fan fictions to clear out my mind.

You should go check them out on FanFiction.net, they're angsty and some are pretty good not PWP . My user is SAR132-4.

I'm also joining the flashpoint_sru community on LJ, will I write for it? Sure, it's only a matter of time.

righto so right now I'm writing a series of vignettes about problems teen girls face, it's umm, depressing.
